University of Denver’s School of Finance Offers Forums for Students

University of Denver Daniels College of Business

Named for Denver investment expert Scott Reiman, the Reiman School of Finance at the Daniels College of Business provides students at the University of Denver with a hands-on educational experience that they can apply to real-world financial and business situations. The school also maintains a dedication to fostering three key competencies to help students succeed in business: principled leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to build a network of lasting connections in the finance industry. With these in mind, the Reiman School of Finance gives students the opportunity to attend Finance Forums in the fall, winter, and spring terms. During the quarterly Finance Forums, industry experts are invited to participate in a panel discussion on topics or events currently affecting the finance industry.

Past Finance Forums have focused on a wide variety of topics, ranging from the future of the United States financial system in the wake of the 2009 economic collapse to the challenges faced by chief financial officers in today’s economic environment. Other topics have included enterprise risk management and the future of the investment industry. For the fall 2012 forum, the school hosted a discussion on how the 2012 presidential election would affect financial markets, as well as the investment industry and corporate finance. Speakers included the managing director and co-head of North American Mining & Metals, Nick Chirekos; senior vice president of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, Ric Martin; and returning speaker Ted Weisberg, the president and founder of the Seaport Securities Commission.

The school offers a number of degree programs for those seeking to pursue an education in finance at the University of Denver, including a master of science in finance program and several undergraduate options for majors and minors in finance. Additionally, the Reiman School of Finance has several graduate certification programs to help finance professionals expand their knowledge in the areas of corporate finance, investment management, and the foundations of the finance industry.
